US-UN REPORT: MISSION STATEMENT
OVER SEVENTY YEARS AGO SINCE ITS FOUNDING BY THE VICTORS OF WWII, THE UNITED NATIONS HAS SOUGHT TO BRING TOGETHER THE LEADERS OF THE WORLD TO SAVE THE HUMAN RACE FROM SELF-DESTRUCTION. IN THE UN CHARTER WE PROMISED TO “SAVE SUCCEEDING GENERATIONS FROM THE SCOURGE OF WAR, WHICH TWICE IN OUR LIFETIME HAS BROUGHT UNTOLD SORROW TO MANKIND.”
THE MISSION OF US-UN REPORT IS TO UNDERSCORE, CRITIQUE, AND ARTICULATE TO ALL AMERICANS AND THE WORLD, THE SUCCESSES AND FAILURES OF THE FOREIGN POLICY OF THE UNITED STATES IN THIS INTERNATIONAL EFFORT.
ESPECIALLY NOW, IN THE 21 CENTURY, THE WARS WE SOUGHT TO END HAVE CONTINUED, BREAKING OUT ACROSS THE WORLD IN REGIONAL CONFLICTS. THESE CONFLICTS, AGAIN, THREATEN OUR SURVIVAL ON THIS PLANET.
COMMON TO EACH OF THESE IS THE SILENCING OF THOSE WHO WOULD SPEAK OUT AGAINST THE STEADY MARCH TO WAR, WAR CRIMES, GENOCIDE, ECOLOGICAL DESTRUCTION, STARVATION, AND PERSECUTION. THESE VOICES, WHETHER AT HOME OR ABROAD, HAVE BEEN CRUSHED OR SILENCED BY THOSE WHO SEE ONLY WAR AS THE ULTIMATE SOLUTION TO EVERY DISAGREEMENT.
THROUGH EVERY TOOL, SOCIAL AND POLITICAL MEDIUM– US-UN REPORT EXISTS TO GIVE YOU AND THEM A VOICE: “WE HEAR YOU!” WE SEEK TO BEGIN AND EXPAND EXPONENTIALLY A CONVERSATION THAT IS MEANT TO BRING THE WORLD TOGETHER INSTEAD OF TEARING IT APART. OUR MISSION IS TO HEAR FROM YOU, TO FIND YOUR VOICE AMIDST THE CRUSHING INHUMANITY OF THESE CRISES AND TO LIFT IT UP TO THE WORLD TO BE HEARD. IN THIS SPIRIT WE HOPE TO REVERSE THE FAILURE OF THE UNITED NATIONS TO LIVE UP TO ITS PROMISE, A PROMISE WE HAVE YET TO KEEP.
